James Wan made his name after he directed the horror films Saw, Insidious and The Conjuring. He was then called in for a big-budget movie, Furious Seven which was released in 2015. Aquaman was a big hit, and everyone, including the audience and the critics, praised Wan for his work in the film.

In a recent interview, Wan revealed that he has got other things to handle before Aquaman. He didn’t tell the details of his projects, but as we know Wan likes to keep himself busy, it’s not impossible to think Wan is engaged in a plethora of projects before Aquaman 2 starts shooting.
One of the projects Wan has been involved is – The Trench. The Trench is a horror-themed Aquaman spinoff. He has also been set to direct the reboots of Arachnophobia and The Tommyknockers.
Wan may be directing The Trench, but he also might prefer to take a break from DC Universe. Wan did a similar thing when he was involved with The Conjuring 2 in between Furious Seven and Aquaman.
